Oceanic Phytoplankton can be called the "mother's milk of the Earth" - it feeds in parallel 99% of life in the Ocean and provides both directly and secondarily about 70-92% (the variation of sources is not the same) of all the oxygen we breathe on Earth. By virtue of the chain with the Sun, it supports and nourishes all life on the planet. It contains every molecule of nutrition that can be found in every other plant source on the planet. Single-celled organisms, known as marine phytoplankton, are among the various species of marine plants that are responsible for about 80% of the Earth's oxygen supply. In addition to this vital component of life on Earth, marine phytoplankton also provide an abundance of amino acids, fatty acids, antioxidants and an abundance of micronutrients for human health.

Due to its composition, marine phytoplankton is able to penetrate cell membranes incredibly easily. This property allows phytoplankton to deliver concentrated nutritional benefits directly into human cells rather than being retained in the digestive tract or broken down by the liver.

Mitochondria play a key role in how marine phytoplankton are able to prevent free radical damage in the body. Mitochondria convert food into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which powers cells, which in turn power organs, which in turn power the body as a whole. When ATP cannot be produced due to mitochondrial dysfunction, the resulting accumulation of toxins leads to significantly reduced nutrient absorption. This is similar to what happens when an electrical circuit is blocked and energy flow is disrupted.

Because ATP is produced by the mitochondria, waste byproducts are also produced. These waste products are known as free radicals. Free radicals are highly charged molecules lacking a paired electron, making them more likely to bind to other atoms or molecules, which in turn leads to a process called oxidative stress. 

An increase in free radicals without mitigation can lead to serious mitochondrial disruption, requiring them to work harder than usual. As free radicals continue to rise, toxins accumulate until the cell is damaged or destroyed.
